KANSAS COALITIONforOPEN GOVERNMENT

Helping to make Kansas government open and transparent

Resources

The Kansas Coalition for Open Government’s website is the go-to free resource in the state for members of the public and the media with questions about the government’s denial of access to records, meetings, and the courts.

Who We Are

For more than 20 years, KCOG has published brochures, produced public service announcements, and presented seminars throughout the state for local and state officials promoting government transparency.

Defense Fund

The Kansas Coalition for Open Government has established a Legal Initiative Fund. The fund is primarily intended to help news organizations and journalists respond to legal issues that adversely impact their ability to report on matters of public interest.

Welcome

The goal of the Kansas Coalition for Open Government is to promote awareness of open and transparent government in Kansas. Our Board of Directors and members help keep the public informed about abuses of open government. We strive to hold elected officials accountable for actions that ignore the public’s rights to attend public meetings and access government records.

KCOG is a nonprofit organization operated for charitable purposes and is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A popular government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy; or, perhaps both.
